Is that a piece of cheese I see?
This is my sweet beagle, Maggie. She’s currently experiencing an unfortunate incarceration due to a herniated disc. The vet recommended crate restriction over two weeks ago to limit her movement, encourage rest, and prevent further injury.
I have no idea how she hurt herself (although disc issues are apparently common for beagles), and the symptoms manifested overnight. She’s been through a round of painkillers, muscle relaxers, and steroids. She’s now only on painkillers.
She’s still very wobbly with her back legs, sometimes even falling to the side, but she doesn’t seem to be in any pain, has her appetite, has bowel and bladder control, and can still wag her tail and bay with the best of them.
If she’s still fighting this hard for a normal life at 15 years old, I’m certainly not going to give up on her yet either.
And even though the image is a bit grainy because of the low light, doesn’t she still make a pretty picture? :)
