A couple of chairs sit forgotten in a train car at the Southeastern Railway Museum. The folks at the SRM are all volunteers, and they work to restore the old trains and cars that are housed there. Since it’s a non-profit, they rely mostly on grants, museum admission fees, and the work of the volunteers to fund and perform the restorations.
Because they are at least now protected from the elements, the trains are not deteriorating as rapidly as they have been; unfortunately, some areas are still in disrepair, waiting for their turn at restoration. This is one of those such rooms. I like how melancholic it is.
